Flamingo Marari Boutique Hotel

Flamingo Marari, a nature lovers paradise was designed for our clients - the enterprising younger generation of the Puthenpurakal family, who wanted to start a boutique hotel in their ancestral property. The project draws inspiration from their traditional ancestral home or ‘tharavadu’ which is located centrally on the site overlooking the canal that connects to the Marari beach. 

The challenge was to adaptively reuse and integrate the existing traditional residence with the proposed hotel block, bamboo themed restaurant and allied facilities. The integration is brought in by various transition spaces, courtyards and the careful selection of building materials and details. The design thus is a response to the cultural context in the region and reflects and relooks at the traditional Kerala architecture.
